Friday Favorites: #adoptdontshop

I’m doing this Friday Favorite post a little different and instead of sharing my favorite THINGS I am sharing one of my favorite causes that I am extremely passionate about. If you’ve ever seen me post a picture of my precious pup on Instagram then you’ve seen me proudly use the hashtag #adoptdontshop. We adopted Maddie and I am a big proponent of saving the lives of sweet little fur babies who need a home. I always say ‘who rescued who?’ and it is so true. She has brought so much joy into our everyday lives and my heart just bursts looking at her precious little face! There are SO many amazing reasons to have a furry friend in your life and SO many reasons to adopt. Did you know that there are approximately 7.6 MILLION animals in animal shelters every  year? Of those, about 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats. Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized. This breaks my heart to even type out.

One of these sweet pups was saved on a day he was scheduled to be euthanized. My future sister-in-law rescued one of her three rescue dogs, Hope, the hour before her scheduled euthanization. There are SO many amazing dogs that are just waiting to be loved and love back who may lose the opportunity. ANIMAL RESCUE IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT CAUSE! That is why today, I’ve teamed up with three other Dallas bloggers who are also passionate about rescuing animals. These are all phenomenal women and I am so glad to have the opportunity to collaborate with them, and some amazing other people, to bring awareness to animal adoption and help find these four little puppies their FURever homes!

I’ll start first by introducing a few people who made this shoot possible. Thank you to Epic Animal Rescue who does amazing things each and every day for helping to find animals homes and who brought these precious babies to us for our shoot! Thank you to The Tree Kisser for our adorable shirts (10% of all sales are donated to reputable animal rescue or advocacy organizations) and to Venus & Co Flowers for the precious flower crowns/collars for the dogs. Last but not least, thank you to Beckley & Co for volunteering to take your time to photograph and edit these photos for such a good cause!

And now to introduce these little angels who could be your new best friend, reason for smiling all throughout your day, feeling of purpose, anxiety relief, snuggle buddy, etc. Click the name of each dog to be taken to their page on Epic Animal Rescue’s site.

GINGER

Ginger was my little sidekick for this shoot. She is about a three year old, sixty-pound shepherd mix. She was rescued from a puppy mill where she gave birth to tons and tons of puppies. Because of that, she’ll be having a little tummy tuck soon. Once that is complete and her leg is fully healed she’ll be good as new! Ginger is sweet, calm, and gentle. She does well with other dogs and cats, too!

TUCK

You guys this dog melts my heart! He was drug behind a car and was so badly injured. Sweet Tuck was rescued on the day he was scheduled to be put down. Tuck is a one-year old American Staffordshire Terrier who weighs about thirty-five pounds. Tuck is now healing well and is learning to be house-trained. He gets along with other dogs and loves to play! Tuck walks well with a harness and is an active dog. He would do best with an active family who will help him learn to be the best pup he can be. I meaaaann… look at those ears!

Poppie

Poppie is a young, eight pound terrier mix. She is so sweet and loves to cuddle! She is yet to meet a human she doesn’t like and does well with other dogs. Poppie is crate trained and is quickly learning when it comes to being house trained. She walks well on a leash, too.

Annie

How stinking precious is Annie? She is so sweet and cuddly! Annie was rescued from the same home as Poppie. She gets along great with all humans and seems to love all dogs, too.

Each dog has a $200 adoption fee which covers: vaccinations, spay/neuter, & microchip. If you’re interested in this any of these precious animals, please fill out the application online at epicanimalrescue.org and the dog’s foster parent will get in touch with you within 24 hours.

Finally, a little more about my blogger crew. Going from left to right we have Lauren from LMents of Style, Natalie from The Fashion Hour, Me, and Molly from Fashion Veggie. I LOVED how eager these girls were to jump on board for promoting a good cause. As bloggers, we promote a lot of things– some paid, some unpaid. This afternoon was so special because it was just people with good hearts volunteering their time and using their influence for an amazing cause. This warms my heart. You’ve got to check out all their posts on these sweet babies and follow along with them on Instagram. You’ll definitely be inspired– by their hearts, by their style, and by all that they share!

Thank you again to everyone who made this possible! Even if you can’t rescue one of these babies, share with friends, volunteer to be a foster parent, or donate to the cause. EVERYthing helps. If you need more info, feel free to reach out and contact any of us. #ADOPTDONTSHOP

This is one of my most favorite posts ever! The “adopt don’t shop” message is one of THE most important messages in the world! I spend a lot of time at a local animal shelter here in my town & while it’s a “no kill” shelter, they pull from “kill shelters” & it’s such a heartbreaking reality. I love that you’re spreading such a positive message. Gorgeous photos, gorgeous dogs, gorgeous bloggers, gorgeous hearts

In Portland I spent time volunteering at a No Kill privately owned shelter.. It was so rewarding and therapy for the humans as well.. giving love to the fur babies… It was run professionally and expense was not an issue, all county shelters would call every week and they would go pick up the babies on the “Hit” list.. bring them back and adopt them out. Pure Dedication. Crowns in heaven to all that participate in any form ! Thanks for sharing..
