Ten Summer Essentials

I feel like Memorial weekend is the kick off party for Summer. The turning of the seasons means it is time to talk about all the Summer essentials for your closet! Today, I’m sharing ten summer essentials you need to add to your closet NOW! I’m including examples of me wearing each of these below (some I’ve shared before and some that will be making there way online soon) as well as additional options for you to shop! Each of the outfits below can be shopped via my Instagram page here.

A go-to blue dress

Blue is such an easy color and is perfect for these warmer months. It looks great with a tan, too! I chose this blue embroidered dress to share with you all because the off-the-shoulder silhouette made it effortless. I could seriously live in this thing! Dress yours up with wedges or wear it with sneakers or sandals for a more relaxed look.

Easy neutral wedges

The cost per wear on a neutral pair of summer wedges is insane. I’m showing my two favorites here and linking a ton of great options below! These are so easy to throw on with a t-shirt and jeans (or shorts) or a little Summer dress. Both of these are super comfortable, only giving you all the more reason to wear them on repeat.

A black maxi dress

There may be nothing easier to throw on any time of year, but when the Summer season gets too hot for pants, I live in easy dresses like this one. A black maxi is perfect for traveling and wearing on repeat, because all you have to do is switch up your accessories to update your outfit. I chose this one with a fun tie back detail because I thought it gave it a little extra fun detail.

Gingham

This Summer’s favorite pattern. If you aren’t always into these preppy patterns like me, then you can edge yours up with a denim jacket, black accessories, or choker necklaces. I like to keep it simple when wearing this pattern and letting the rest of my outfits be effortless.

Pearl details

From earrings to shoes, this fun detail is showing up everywhere and I’m loving it. I prefer my pearls to be on the edgy rather than preppy side, and all these fun statement style ones are perfect for that! From a little detail on my backpack shown here or by my accessories shown below, this little embellishment is a must for your Summer wardrobe.

Denim cut off shorts

I LIVE in denim shorts in the Summer. Seriously, no shame, but I’ll wear them day after day. I don’t think I can ever have too many pairs of these because in Texas it just gets too hot to wear pants. Dress them up or down, whatever.. they are a MUST for your closet.

An easy clutch

If you’ve been following along with me for awhile, then I know you’ve seen this clutch before. I have it in white and black and just scored a similar version of it in cognac. It comes in almost every color you could want and is a great price point. The thing I love about it is how effortless it is! Plus, it fits your phone, keys, sunnies, and lipgloss. I love a good clutch, but I need it to actually hold all my crap. I’m one of those people who adapts what I need based on what will fit in my bag. If I have a bigger purse, I’ll naturally add more into it just because it fits. This one helps me keep it simple and only include my must haves. If you need a new bag in any color, this clutch is such a good purchase. I bought the white one about two years ago and can’t even count how many times I’ve worn it.

Backless top

Summer is an excuse to show a little more skin and one of my favorite ways to do it is with a fun backless top. Just like with the black maxi dress above, these t-shirts show just the right amount of skin and make for a fun little unexpected detail. I always get asked what to wear under a backless top and my answer is: these or these.

Sunnies

Whether a splurge option or a more affordable pair, Summer is a great time to update your sunglasses collection. I keep up with my sunglasses so splurging on them is usually not an issue because I’ll wear them for years to come. I love a good mixture of sunnies in my collection and have everything from $12 ones to those that were major splurges. Add in some fun colors or shapes, this is such an easy way to instantly update your wardrobe! All the ones I’m including below are under $100, but the ones I’m wearing below or these and these are great splurge options, too.

Scarves / Bandanas

Scarves are a super easy way to add some fun color or pattern into your outfit. I love wearing them around my neck, tied up in my hair, on my wrist, or even tied onto a handbag. There are so many options when it comes to scarves and I love how many different ones there are available right now!

Andd there you have it! My ten summer essentials (for now). I’d probably also add: a pop of turquoise, a little white dress, stacked rings, white pumps, ear crawlers, a one piece swimsuit, a backpack, a flatform wedge, a mini skirt, and a straw purse to my ‘part two’ list. Stay tuned, because of all of those are probably up next!

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! This was our first weekend of the Whole 30 (his 2nd, my 9th), so it was a relaxed one for us. We cleaned, cooked a lotttt, got a few wedding details taken care of, and I cleaned out my closet. I crossed a ton of errands off my list, too! It was cloudy and rainy two of the days, so we only got to go to the pool yesterday. I also took advantage of the weekend sales (DUH). Cleaning out my closet made me realize I was running low on tshirts, or those without holes in them at least, so I ordered a few different styles in different colors and then plan to order my favorite style in every color. You can never have too many tshirts!! I’m a junkie.

The kids are out of school for the Summer, but I still work for a few more weeks. Today and tomorrow are bad weather make up days, but since we didn’t have any snow days this year, I get them off! Yay for a two day work week. I have a few things to cross off my to do list, but otherwise will enjoy some extra sleep and a little time at the pool if the weather cooperates. Hope you all enjoy your short work weeks! XO
