Mini Floral Dress in Palm Springs

You may not know it from my Instagram, but I’m back home from Palm Springs. I reaaaallly wish I could have stayed longer! Duty called at work, though. I left the trip feeling so inspired. From wanting to up my photography game, to being so happy to be surrounded by supportive women (read more from yesterday where I talk about collaboration > competition), to just feeling content– this trip was just what I needed to get me through the final haul at work before my Summer vacation begins. Oh, and all of our wedding festivities! It was so fun to celebrate our sweet friend’s bachelorette party and I am so thankful to have been on the trip!

I was SO excited shopping for this trip. I had an idea of the vibe of Palm Springs and some places we would be going from my last trip to the dessert. I was really specific about what I chose to buy and bring with me. I often gravitate towards neutral and clothing that has a great CPW (cost per wear), so this was a fun opportunity to splurge, add in some color and pattern, and just have fun. Everyone seemed to love it on Instagram, so I’ll be sure to keep adding these statement clothing pieces in. Every piece I had I LOVED and was so excited to wear and shoot it. This one was a personal favorite, so I wanted to share it with you all first!

You may recall seeing the longer version of this dress from this post where I shared my top picks for long neutral dresses you can wear to Summer weddings. My girlfriend bought the long version with my wedding in mind– and loved it, but sent it back because her husband doesn’t love florals. I however, am obsessed with the print of this dress. I love the muted colors, the fun floral print, and the lace detailing. This short version is perfect because the longer sleeves balance out it being a mini dress, without making it too hot because it is a light weight fabric. It is so comfortable that I really could have worn it all day. This dress also looks adorable with a sneaker or flat sandal for a more relaxed look, too. Perfect for a vacation! If you have a shorter torso, then you could get away with this one at a wedding also, because it wouldn’t be as short. If not, the long version makes a perfect option.

Yesterday my fiancé and I started a Whole 30. This is his second and my ninth. I am SO happy he is doing this one with me, because I was really struggling to stay on track with healthy eating lately. Not having extra temptations at home and especially on the weekends will be so helpful. We’ll be able to have several low-key, healthy weekends before we are gone for several weeks for our wedding and honeymoon. In the mean time, this is the last week where the kids are in school. I get a five day weekend since we didn’t have any snow days and then I’ll be back to work until mid-June. There are just a few of us left at the school after Memorial weekend working, as all the students and teachers are already off for the Summer. I’ll be finishing up some Psych eval reports, paperwork, and getting organized for next year. I’m hoping to redecorate my office when I return in the Fall to make it feel a little more personal and like my style, so I’ll be prepping for that, too. Tomorrow marks exactly one month until we leave to head to Italy for our wedding! AH!
