Summer Makeup Favs

I’ve shared several times that I will be doing my own wedding makeup this summer for our destination wedding. This has led to lots of experimentation with methods and products. I’ve ended up with quite a nice little makeup collection at home now. I’ve come a long way in the past few months considering I didn’t own concealer or foundation, let alone primers or setting powders and sprays prior to this process. This video is probably my favorite found to date and taught me a few of the techniques I mention below. It’s made me a beauty junkie, which can be an expensive little hobby. I’ve tried some things that aren’t my favorites and others that I wonder how I lived so long without. I’ll only share the ones I love with you all and today I’ve got a few things that I use on the daily now.

Too Faced natural eyes palette

I seriously don’t know what I did without this for so long. Well, actually, I do. I used like four different palettes trying to get the color combination I get from this one palette wonder. I’m so obsessed! I like to start with Heaven under my brow, then use cashmere bunny as my transition color to fill my whole lid. From there, I take Push-up and put it loosely in the crease, followed by Sexpresso in the corner and on the outer part of the crease. I finish it off with Silk Teddy on the inner part of my lid. I line the bottom lashes with Push-up and Sexpresso, too. This creates the perfect neutral brown-tinted smokey look, but leaves your eyes brightened. It’s a great deal for a palette (in my opinion), too.

Urban Decay anti aging Eye shadow Primer

Because why would you go through all the effort above if it’s not going to last? This stuff makes my shadow stay on all day and night. It works so well and helps prevent it from getting all smeared around or creasing. I chose the anti-aging one because I may have had one too many 20-minute tanning bed sessions in college and these poor lids need all the help they can get.

YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch

This is a splurge item, but it’s like magic in a little golden tube. This thing has a cult following and I don’t know why I didn’t learn about it sooner. I had a friend swear by this to me and I tried it and was hooked. It covers, brightens, and smooths. I use this bad boy under my eyes using the oh so important triangle of light method and anywhere that needs a little brightening.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

Have you guys heard of baking? No, this is not a food post. I’m talking about your concealer here! A good amount of this stuff packed on top of your concealer while you do your eye shadow and then wiping away the excess (called baking by all the makeup pros) will ensure your concealer stays put and doesn’t crease. It looks a littttttle creepy while you’re letting it sit, but it works. It also helps ensure your shadow isn’t falling down where it shouldn’t when you apply it. I leave it on while I do the shadow on my lid, wipe it away, then line my bottom lashes. It’s also really helpful to tighten up your contouring line. Take a little bit on a brush or the small side of a beauty blender and draw a line from each corner of your mouth to your hair line and boom, a perfect contour line. Be sure to brush away any excess!

Marc Jacobs Coconut Gel Highlighter

I love all things coconut that leave me glowing so this a dream come true. You need the tiniest little bit of this to go a long way! It leaves the prettiest, most natural glow that you can even add more highlighting powder on top of if needed. Buy this, NOW. I wear this even when I don’t really wear any other makeup (thank you microblading, my photofacial, and eyelash extensions).

NARS blush in Orgasm

There is a reason this is their best selling blush color and I think even the best selling blush. Ever. I used to use this on the daily, took a short break, and now am back to loooving it. It’s so bright and cheery– perfect for Summer. It looks great on tan skin and gives a nice contrast to a tan. It has just enough shimmer to give you a glow without looking too crazy!

MAC Lipstick in Velvet Teddy

I’ve been using MAC lipsticks since I can remember and this color recently became my go to shade. It’s a great neutral tone and is perfect for a subtle day or night time look.

Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss

Four reasons you need this: all natural, not sticky, smells amazing, cheap.
